Comments
James Burnham and Amanda Andrews married as teenagers in December, 1875. Over the next 10 years or so, they had four boys and daughter, Isaac, John, James, Floyda and Lula. The 1880 census shows that James was a farmer, and a laborer lived at their residence.

Something happened to James, and Amanda married Charlie Edwards in 1894. Charlie was 9-11 years younger, depending on which census you trust, and they had two children, Beula and Hosia (see picture).

By the 1900 census, they had moved to Nacogdoches, TX. Isaac, the eldest son, had married a woman named Vilma, had an infant daughter named Arma J and was living elsewhere in Nacogdoches.

The 1910 census shows that they were neighbors with the McKinley-Ballard family. This is significant because the younger James would marry Etta Florence McKinley a few years later.

By 1920, John Burnham had moved back in with his parents, possibly to help take care of them. Amanda was over 60 and Charlie was illiterate. Lula was 35 and still living with the family. She was now listed as "Edwards" and no longer a stepdaughter, so perhaps she had been adopted.

Comments
Alonzo McKinley and Fannie Ballard were raised and married in Georgia, moving to Texas sometime before their 4th child was born in 1889. Alonzo descended from a McKinley line that immigrated from Ireland before the Revolutionary war. His great-great-grandfather, David McKinley (1705-1757) was also a direct ancestor to President William McKinley. Frances descended from families in Georgia and North Carolina that also predate the Revolutionary War.

They raised their family and farmed the land in Woden in Nacogdoches county. Lillie Mae, the eldest, married Jack Boozer in 1898 and moved out. She died in 1982, at 100. A newspaper article about her from 1978 is attached. Her sister Maude would follow her lead, marrying Oltzee Boozer a few years later.

Sometime after 1900, Etta married James Burnham and started their family, which is detailed on the Burnham-McKinley family page. This romance was prompted by the arrival of the Burnham-Andrews family from Louisiana a few years earlier.

The two youngest sons registered for the draft in 1917, giving us the last glimpse of the basic family unit before Alonzo passed away in December. Fannie died just seven months later.

By the time of the 1920 census, the children were all established in their own familes within the area. Jack and Lilly Boozer had five children, ages 11 to 19. James and Etta Burnham had four daughters, from 4 to 12 (see their family page for a photo). William and Frannie McKinley had a 9-year-old son and an infant daughter.

Oltzee and Maude Boozer had a 9-year-old daughter. Recently married, Kearby and Diffie McKinley had a young son as well. The youngest, Ossie, married Logue Jacobs but did not yet have any children.
